I had a shell that ran on debian and that started 2 baby processes, nothing you could do about it as far as i could tell. So i got rid of the shell and only run bots on bsd instead

you are telneting to the bots IP or vhost right, and using the listening port defined in your conf.file?

If i remember correct the bot also sets telnet acess for you when you msg the bot hello and become owner.

Eggdrops runs excellent on fbsd, and seeing your machine is that old I am almost certain bsd will outperform a linux dist.
