Im sure there is a mod for phpBB that can be writen to do that.
phpBB can do almost everything IPB can do with the addition of a few mods. phpBB is good stuff generally

you can change ident if your provider permits it.
most will not permit it.

but I think oident allows for .fakeident ir .oident some sort like that
when it all comes down to the nitty gritty you should consult your provider on that matter. Most shell providers do not allow account sharing.
