Hmmm.. Guess 2.5 wasn't when urlencoding was added. Might've been 2.5.1 or smth. This can be solved by providing http package 2.5.1 which can be found here

<sp33chy> [Twitter]: (Megahal) sp33chy's reply tweet: RT @ardantus <sp33chy> Talking must be a big deal here. For kids that are into the fire was unknown.
sp33chy in this case is the name I've chosen for my eggdrop (megahal) and this carries over onto twitter. You were actually talking to my megahal, sp33chy (the eggdrop bot). Everybody who uses this script can have their bot do the same thing. ;)

I was at work when you were asking for help on efnet. But if you use the http package found above it will work for you. Any other issues, or if this is still an issue, hack it like below, this won't provide a real utf-8 input but this wont matter unless your bot is utf-8 patched...

Code: Select all

# Change this
    set http [::http::config -useragent $twitter(agent) -urlencoding "utf-8"]
# To this:
    set http [::http::config -useragent $twitter(agent)]
There are 2 places you do this. Once within proc:twitter and once with proc:tweet. It should also be in both megahal procs (reply in account, reply to @mention) and the restAPI (!myprofile,!myhome,!myfriends,!mymentions,!public) but we will wait for version 4.31 to do that. Version 4.31 will also include the ability to read a usernames complete timeline..

It presently already does this:
!twitter username - This gives you the profile + their last tweet

Soon, it will do this too:
!user [<range>] username - will work same as using restAPI commands...

The ability to AUTOSAVE timelines will also be added in version 4.31. This will keep your bot (if you use MegaHAL) from replying to timelines it already may have if it's crashed and restarted for example. This feature should've been added a long time ago.....

After 4.31, I'll include some ability to add friends and new time-interval-time-bind for listing friends tweets automatically, as well as having the megahal reply ability when any friend's new private message hits your account.. For private message to work the bot has to add that person as a friend (follow them) before anyone can private message it. To make it auto-friend someone will be a special string you designate, and when it's within one of your accounts @mentions, that person will be autofriended. It will of course be possible to set that to "*" and be anything and it auto-follows anyone who dares talk to it. It will do this all on auto-pilot and message them back exactly what you want. After that, once they follow you this gives you the ability to private message them back. After this occurs the bot can notice this via time bind and immedaite tweet @them something dumb the moment it happens. There will be alot of cool and unexpected things added in time (the MegaHAL was unexpected :P). Next unexpected idea is linking your eggdrop's scripts back to twitter @mentions and friends. A user on twitter sends you "@username !g hello" ... and your bot sends back the first replies from google (even self shortening the links before hand) and basically becomes a google twitter bot. Any script you have on your bot would create the instant ability for anyone on twitter to @mention or friend you and have that command available.. The future will be interesting...

Enjoy the experiment and have fun creating megahal bots all over twitter.. xD

Version 4.31 will be here the weekend or possibly sooner.... stay tuned :P

As promised here is version 4.31. This includes alot of features as well as auto-mated saving and auto-mated loading of timelines and services. The bot will no longer forget where it was timeline-wise and shall never forget your service bot lists anymore.

Here is another update to the script. This one adds probably the most wanted feature of all; following, friends, and the auto posting of new timelines posted from friends.
<speechles> !followers
<sp33chy> [Twitter]: [#roms-isos@suqmuhnutz] (followers): Nakugear, daveklassix, photodecoration, ratewpalmbeach, briward, DJAntaris, WeavahDiva, assistanttothe1, Unlocked28, ollymursclub, BrightMindsCEO, sgpcasino, ardantus, EFNet_sp33chy, dssceners
<speechles> !friends
<sp33chy> [Twitter]: [#roms-isos@suqmuhnutz] (following): jayleno, BambolaBambina, Nakugear, ConansFreckles, CoCosBeard, ConansSquirrel, ConansThumbnail, ConansTaurus, ConanOBrien, nicolerichie, PakiGirl, satan, jesus, god, Webbman, Naraku, britneyspears, ParisHilton, daveklassix, emailsfromanass
<sp33chy> [Twitter]: [#roms-isos@suqmuhnutz] (following): dssceners
The friend list above can be manipulated with the "follow" command:
+follow username - add a friend
-follow username - remove a friend
After adding friends, the script will periodically check for new timelines from any of them and you will see something like this:
<sp33chy> (1/18) [12010210407 @ Sun Apr 11 21:15:40 +0000 2010] (Alessandra Torresani@BambolaBambina) (UberTwitter): And split the rest with me! Get married at the Vatican! RT @xandertarigo: Mega Million lotto 105 million! If I (cont) http://tl.gd/r0q8d
Because this user is one of my "friends" (she is the hot cylon chick from Caprica TV show) her updates to her timeline will appear on IRC. This allows instant direct interaction with friends from anyone in the IRC channel.
Version 4.32: Supports the following commands:

!twitter <username>
return a twitter profile page to IRC, any user can do this.

!tweet @msg-id @username <message>
send a tweet for your channels account, only specific users can do this. @msg-id and @username are optional. You can use either, or, both, or neither.

!myfriends [<range>]
return timelines from your friends, only specific users can do this. Range is optional, it can be X-Y or X. X and Y must be integers.

!myprofile [<range>]
return timelines from your profile, only specific users can do this. Range is same as !myfriends.

!myhome [<range>]
return timelines from your home, only specific users can do this. Range is same as !myfriends.

!public [<range>]
return public timelines, only specific users can do this. Range is same as !myfriends.

!mymentions [<range>]
return timeslines of your @mentions, only specific users can do this. Range is same as !myfriends.

!user <username> [<range>]
return usernames tweet timelines, only specifc users can do this. Range is same as !myfriends.

!services
return the list of service bots associated to your channels account, only specific users can do this.

-service <username/list of usernames>
removes a service bot, or list of service bots from the list. Only specific users can do this.

+service <username/list of usernames>
adds a service bot, or list of service bots to the list. Only specific users can do this.

+follow <username>
adds a friend to your accounts friends list for that channel. Only specific users can do this.

-follow <username>
removes a friend from your accounts friends list for that channel. Only specific users can do this.

!friends
shows the friends list for your account for that channel. Only specific users can do this.

!followers
shows the followers list for your account for that channel. Only specific users can do this.
If you want to try out the new script...

Put some additional development time into this script and that has resulted in a few more features: Links within your tweets will now be automatically shortened on-the-fly, you have full control over how this is done. I've also changed the display format to look much more professional and clean. This will now use durations, and looks quite sexy. Below is a sample of how this all looks on IRC.

This is a short visual of the different commands in use on an active account.

Get the new script:Twitter, Tweets & MegaHAL v4.33
You will agree I'm sure that this is "the best" twitter script available for eggdrop, and it isn't even complete yet. Below are the new config options:

Code: Select all

# URL/Link's are now "automatically" shortened within your tweets
# set below the length of url's that will be shortened. The best range
# for this is 7-13, but this also depends on which shortener method
# you also choose in the option below this. Experiment.
# (integer)
set twitter(shorten) 7

# which method should be used when shortening the url?
# (0-3) will only use the one you've chosen.
# (4-5) will use them all.
# 0 --> http://tinyurl.com
# 1 --> http://u.nu
# 2 --> http://is.gd
# 3 --> http://cli.gs
# 4 --> randomly select one of the four above ( 2,0,0,3,1..etc )
# 5 --> cycle through the four above ( 0,1,2,3,0,1..etc )
# (integer)
set twitter(shorten_type) 5
To get the durations to appear correct for your timezone you need to set the below configuration variable to your GMT offset your bot is at:

Code: Select all

# Set the timezone the bot uses to return to GMT 0000
# (signed integer)
set twitter(timezone) "-7"
After this is done, the durations should appear correct for you. Have a fun. ;)

Hi all

I have installed the twitter script on my eggdrop.

I started off getting the error "Cannot find package (base64). Base64 encoding is needed to tweet. Failed."

I managed to solve that, but now i get "Cannot find package (tls). Secure socket is needed to tweet. Failed." even though i have installed tls1.6.

Also, when i rehash the bot, i get this " [Twitter]: Unable to find zlib or trf package! Gzip disabled."

Any idea's?

The zlib/trf and gzip disabled message is fine. All that means is when doing web fetches the script cannot speed these up using compression. It doesn't speed it up that noticeably using it. You won't need tls with version 4.34, just base64 and if you want megahal.

-----------

To all:
New version ;) ... This supports /me actions and also changes a few things. First off is how you !tweet. When you want to reply to someone you now can copy exactly what their id@timeline and when that starts a tweet, it will correctly be done as a reply-to-id. I've also corrected the look to be even cleaner.

Get it here: Twitter, Tweets & MegaHAL v4.34
Tls is no longer required, base64 _is_ required only. Megahal is optional.

Demonstrates the new /me action being handled exactly as IRC would. Has friend time lines in view (gamespot), also shows the lame @mention coming from that stupid "FART ROBOT". If anyone has any problems, questions, comments, enhancements, etc ... Post em on up. :)

Feel free to chat with me at the following twitter accounts all tied to channels on efnet: suqmuhnutz, dssceners, and ndstemp. These accounts are active and in use with this exact script providing all functionality.

When a friend tries to !tweet, we get the message "[Twitter]: Cannot find an account to tweet for #channelname. Failed.", even though they have an "m" flag and i have set the minimum flag requirment to "o|o".

Any ideas?

Code: Select all

# Accts to tweet to
# "#channel|Login|Password[|tweet-format]"
# --
# Channel name here uses lowercase, your actual
# channel case is irrevelant. But here you must
# use lowercase only
# --
# tweet-format is entirely optional and used as
# an optional local over-ride. If no tweet-format
# is given the globaltwitterformat will be used.
# --
# (list)
set twitter(accts) {
	"#yourchan|youracct|yourpass"
	"#yourchan-ops|youracct|yourpass"
	"#yourotherchan|your2ndacct|your2ndpass|%nick:%chan %text"
	"#yourotherchan-ops|your2ndacct|your2ndpass|%chan %nick %text"
}
The _ONLY_ channels this will work in are, #yourchan, #yourchan-ops, #yourotherchan & #yourotherchan-ops ... No other channel will this work in, there is no account tied to the channel.

#yourchan & #yourchan-ops are both tied to youracct. That means everything tweeted from either of these channels will be tied to the same account.

#yourotherchan & #yourotherchan-ops are both tied to your2ndacct. Everything tweeted from either channel will appear in the same account.

You _MUST_ use lowercase when adding channels to the accounts settings list.

The problem is channels without accounts tied to them will NOT work for tweeting or other functions. When you edit the accounts settings list, you can tie multiple channels to accounts, or multiple accounts to a single channel. Use your imagination.

Thanks speechles, that seems to have sorted that little problem.

One other thing.

I am getting these errors in the partyline:

Tcl error [proc:twitter:megahal]: invalid command name "getreply"

Tcl error [proc:twitter:megahal:privatereply]: invalid command name "getreply"

Any ideas?

Disable megahal in the script config:
set twitter(megahal) 1
set twitter(usemegareply) 1
Set both the above config options to 0. Also make sure your channel is -twittermega and -twittermegamentions. This will effectively stop those errors as your not using the "artificial intelligence" megahal on your bot. If you were this script allows you to extend it onto twitter.
