This is what i get when i try to dcc chat to the bot. I am the owner and have added host to myself thru telnet.
I see this when i am the chat line in telnet:
[01:05] -Chubby (~Chubby@dummies.net)-

[01:05] Refused DCC chat (no access): Chubby!~Chubby@dummies.net
[01:05] CTCP DCC: CHAT chat 1221014253 36644 from Chubby (~Chubby@dummies.net)
I see this on IRC:
Chat with IrcBot
Waiting for acknowledgement...
and no response .. just stays there forever but the IrcBot send me a messages telling me this:
[[02:08]] *IrcBot* No access
and my friend has an eggdrop and running fine, he give me access to his eggdrop on his linux and i can dcc chat fine.
this are the dccstats that i have on there:
SOCK ADDR PORT NICK HOST TYPE
---- -------- ----- --------- ----------------- ----
3 C0A80165 3322 (telnet) * lstn 3322
4 00000000 0 (dns) dns (ready)
5 42E1DF56 6667 (server) irc.uicn.net serv (lag: 0)
8 C0A80166 3606 Chubby net@192.168.1.102 chat flags: cpTep/0
can someone tell me why i can dcc chat to the IrcBot?

Good lord! Have the world recognised by the bot as its owner.
| Code: | | .+host <nick> *!Chubby@dummies.net |
Delete every other host. Read the documentation in the ~./doc directory whilst you're about it. _________________ Add [SOLVED] to the thread title if your issue has been.

[15:03] -Chubby (~Chubby@dummies.net)- DCC Chat (xx.xxx.xx.xxx)
[15:03] DCC connection: CHAT (Chubby!~Chubby@dummies.net)
[15:03] CTCP DCC: CHAT chat 1221014253 37222 from Chubby (~Chubby@dummies.net)
I got the bot to recognize me.. but it doesn't ask me for a password and the connection just times out. I see in telnet this:
[15:06] Password timeout on dcc chat: [Chubby]~Chubby@dummies.net
where is the setting to make the bot ask for the password? in the conf file? or can anyone help me plz? |

i got a way to go around it now.. not sure if is the right way but is working for me so far
i got the bot to '/ctcp bot chat' then i did a /dcc bot chat' to make the connection. but still wont work if i just do '/dcc bot chat'
i think the problem is the ip set on the bot.. still not sure, i set it to use a internal ip such as :
set nat-ip "192.168.1.101"
but i believe that becasue they both using the same external ip it wont recognize it, when i connect from a neighbor's wireless and do '/dcc bot chat' it recognizes me perfectly,, just not on my own LAN. |

192.168.*.* is a LAN ip, not a public IP. If it works when the bot dcc chats to you, good enough
I'm sure others will have more help, I'm not all that familiar with lan/nat issues. |

Hmm i have a very similar problem with my windrop..
When i telnet to my bot and join the party line, i see exactly the same error as chubbychub talked about, when im trying to dcc chat to my bot.
And that is :
[21:38] Password timeout on dcc chat: [i-Chester]~jaaaaa@xtreme-121-148.leek1.gr.home.nl
It is timing out for some reason, and when i look at the dcc chat window on irc, i see this:
Waiting for acknowledgement...
DCC Chat connection established
-
DCC session closed
For some reason it connects for like one second, and immediately shuts it down.. I dont understand why, dcc chat is working to other people, dcc sends are working fine too.. i got to a stage right now that i really cant think of an explanation for it...
Telnet is working fine, but it just wont work with dcc chat. Are there any things i should change in my router perhaps? Allthough i seriously doubt that because dcc chats with others are working fine!
It is running on the same machine (windrop) and im using an internal IPadress, can someone help me out? I really really hope so.. |

# This settings defines a time in seconds that the bot should wait before
# a dcc chat, telnet, or relay connection times out.
set ident-timeout 5 |

no its not the timeout, it connects, and immediately it closes again, but the funniest thing just happened.
Without changing anything, all of the sudden dcc chat worked.. i dont understand why, but i am connected by dcc to the bot now... weird stuff... |

Are you sure you have a password set?
go to the eggdrop.user file and delete the line that says :-
-- PASS +bLahBlaH
and then save the file.
Restart your bot
then from IRC type /msg botnick pass newpassword
Then type /ctcp botnick chat |

hmm and once again i can not dcc chat with my bot.
My internet connection broke down, so thats the reason i wasnt in the dcc chat anymore.. But the same problem again...
It connects, and like 1 second later , the connection gets closed.
I didnt remove the pass line in the user file yet, because im almost certain i have set a password.
When i do /msg botnick pass newpassword it replies to me with the line 'u already have a password set'
I dont know why this problem keeps on turning back, i have a connection with the bot by telnet.. but the damn dcc chat keeps having issues with me.. The other day it surprisingly worked all of the sudden, but i dont have a good explanation for it, why it worked than..
Waiting for acknowledgement...
DCC Chat connection established
-
DCC session closed
It keeps doing this...
At this moment my dns isnt resolving.. so my host is blabla@217.xx.xx.x instead of a hostname, so perhaps thats an excuse for the bot right now.. but im almost certain when my isp has sorted his dns problems out, it still wont work. Does anyone here have the same problem as me? or a solution for this? Cause it worked a few days ago, and again.... now it doesnt.. BLUGH
Thanks already |

Check that 'set dcc-sanitycheck' is set to zero. _________________ Add [SOLVED] to the thread title if your issue has been.
