Newbie, please be gentle. Wink

I have a bot which currently sits on 2 channels. On the bot's home channel it handles the voicing etc.. On the second channel it is used to post songs being played by the channel radio. It is to do nothing other than post songs. Other bots handle administration in the second channel.

I suspect due to the dual purpose of this bot it may not be possible to make it perform only the posting in the second channel, and I am prepared to create a second bot for administering this bot's home channel.

Is it possible to set the bot to not perform or interfere with the administration of a channel by other bots/users and just perform a single duty, such as post the songs for the radio, or host the trivia game?

Home Channel: secret/keyed
Protect modes (chanmode): +ksrtn password
Idle Kick after (idle-kick): DON'T!
stopnethack: DON'T!
aop-delay: 5:30
revenge-mode: 0
ban-time: 120
exempt-time: 60
invite-time: 60
Other modes:
-inactive +statuslog +secret -shared
+greet -seen +cycle +dontkickops
+protectops +protectfriends -revenge -revengebot
-bitch +autoop +autovoice +nodesynch
+enforcebans +dynamicbans -userbans +autohalfop
+protecthalfops
+dynamicexempts -userexempts -dynamicinvites -userinvites
flood settings: chan ctcp join kick deop nick
number: 20 3 15 3 3 10
time : 60 60 60 10 10 60

Second Channel:
Protect modes (chanmode): +tn
Idle Kick after (idle-kick): DON'T!
stopnethack: DON'T!
aop-delay: 0:0
revenge-mode: 0
ban-time: 0
exempt-time: 0
invite-time: 0
Other modes:
-inactive +statuslog -secret -shared
-greet -seen -cycle -dontkickops
-protectops -protectfriends -revenge -revengebot
-bitch -autoop -autovoice +nodesynch
-enforcebans -dynamicbans -userbans -autohalfop
-protecthalfops
-dynamicexempts -userexempts -dynamicinvites -userinvites
flood settings: chan ctcp join kick deop nick
number: 0 0 0 0 0 0
time : 0 0 0 0 0 0

Or is it possible to create a member status such as ops / halfops, which is above voiced, but has no administrative rights in a particular channel? That is a mirc question, but if there is info available, please point me in the right direction.

Sure, it's possible. The bot doesn't need ops just to make announcements.
Read here about how to configure, and just disable the config options that would require ops, like flood-kicking and such:

What was throwing me off was that everything pointed to the bounce areas being set to 0.

By Dcc chatting the bot and specifying the channel, it appears to now be working as it should.

set bounce-modes 0 #channel
set bounce-bans 0 #channel
set bounce-exempts 0 #channel

Being new to this all, I've found the explanations of the settings to be incomplete. Why a setting is there and what results to expect.

Thank you for your help rosc2112,

Retro Very Happy
