How do I disable Melange Chat Server? I telnet to my eggdrop IP on port 6666 and it shows this:

telnet 62.x.x.x 6666
Trying 62.x.x.x ...
Connected to hostname.com
Escape character is '^]'.
+++Online
>> Melange Chat Server (Version 1.10), Apr-25-1999

Welcome ! (Type /HELP for a list of commands)

I wasn't able to get my eggdrops to connect at all if I close port 6666

Confused it doesn't even ask for a password when I telnet to that IP. Shocked Please advise.

By default eggdrop dosen't have any 'Melange Chat Server' thing, it's either an altered version of eggdrop in wich case I would recommand you to delete it and get one from a trustworthy source OR is a either module or tcl script in wich case I would recommand you to unload and delete.

melange chat server is a java chat on Cpanel Sad my server was exploited due to this. It's weird why eggdrop can't connect if port 6666 is closed. Rolling Eyes

set default-port 6667

already set to 6667. eggdrop can't connect after the tech added a rule to block port 6666 in iptables. It's really odd. After I added port 6666 - 6669 to the allowed ports in firewall, it was able to connect.
