Permission denied?

Post by robfromboston »

I just intalled eggdrop for the first time . . but it won't load.

bash-2.05a$ ./eggdrop mybot.conf

I installed it as root, but chown'd it all to my username since it said it couldnt run on root. Any ideas why I'm getting a "permission denied" message? I apologize in advance for my newbie-ness

Did you chmod/chown the top directory?

I wouldn't install it in 'root's' dir, I'd put it in as a regular username.. But in any case, obviously you need to chmod or chown something.

Set up a normal user account, login and then compile your eggdrop.

Having read the information regarding eggdrop and root you still chose to ignore?
