|
|
Hello-
I am new to this forum, and the use of eggdrop and Windrop. I have a client that uses this software to run a bot in an IRC channel.
I am able to install the windrop directory and assocaiated config files as well as maintain an exe file of eggdrop, however whenever i try to access the eggdrop exe file i am not allow access to it.
If i however run the system in safe mode, i can run edggdrop and the Bot works correctly
I have also under safe mode take ownership of the file and the folder in which it lies and made sure full control permission were on the file/folder
I am baffled what is stopping my from accessing this file in normal mode in windows XP Professional
AVG antivirus is installed on teh system and is picking up the eggdrop.exe file as an ircbot.bzz virus threat, i have run the system will all antivirus software disabled and no services running in the background.
Any idea? on how i can get this to work under windows normally |

Run it as administrator? Not like security in windows matters.. |

You seriously need to redo this as running Windrop in Administrator mode is definitely wrong!

I have given full control permissions to the folder/ and the file eggdrop.exe to the administrators and everyone.
Still unable to access file, however i can run it in safe mode... |

I am not even going to pretend to understand why you'd need to do any of that.
You simply boot into that operating system (nothing special) and download the installer from the Windrop Central site, (appropriately) edit the configuration file and start eggdrop from the Command Console.
Further enquiries on your part a best directed to the Windrop Central Forums. _________________ Add [SOLVED] to the thread title if your issue has been.

This is definitely baffling to me, because I have both Windows XP Professional and Windrop on it and have no problems running Windrop on it. Also, I can run eggdrops on it under Cygwin without any problems as well. So I have no idea what is happening on your end. |

Have you read the Windrop FAQ to see if your problem is on there. Or if that fails, try the Windrop Forums. I do remenber the FAQ mentioning about Virus scanners reporting eggdrop files as virus's. so would be worth checking out. _________________ TCL the misunderstood |
