forgive my ignorance, but do I put my nick there? or do i put what would normally be my ident like blah@dsgjdg.com? I'm on IRCQnet so I'm not even sure if they use identd...

Usually, the word you choose to be your shell account name will end up being the ident of your bot. For example, if you chose 'smiley' as your shell account, the bot would show up on the IRC and look something like this:
HappyBot (smiley@brush.your.teeth.net) _________________
