Hello,

Recently my windrop was reset by peer. Normaly I go into the windrop folder and double click on the winbat file and away I go. Now however..the normal batch file is gone..and all that sits in there is the RunOnce.bat file..which.I have already run, way back when I first configured. I've had no other problems with the windrop..other than now..it has left IRC and I can't seem to restart it. Can anyone shed some light on the missing file and how to restart my bot.

Thanks,

Ed

I've used Windrop sometime in the past, but I don't remember any batch files. Open the command prompt (start>run>cmd), cd to where the windrop.exe executable is located and type windrop.exe yourconf.conf.

hhmm..ok..think I made a mistake on that one. Yes..was the exe file that I was using to start the Windrop..and that's the file that has now gone missing. I'm going to do a search on Windrop.exe and try to see where it is. Will get back to in a wee bit.

This is about as strange as it can get I guess. I've done a complete search of all hardrives for windrop.exe ..and it's nowhere to be found. I'm out of ideas and am going to write it off as a bug I guess. Sure hope this doesn't happen everytime peer resets. I think..I'll back up my user file and re install the Windrop Software. Really appreciate your reply on this matter.

What you need to do is use official links for any precompiled windrop (never know what nasties other idiots may inject when they compile).
These links are official: Windrop 1.6.18.exe or windrop1.6.18-handlen32.exe

Your problem is directly related to this. You have used an infected (virus/trojan) build of windrop and are running anti-virus software most probably, and your installed windrop has been quarantined by your virus soft (this is why you can't find it). If your virus soft has a virus vault, checking it should reveal the infection plaguing that copy of windrop.

AVG virus soft's reaction to a suspicious copy of windrop I found on the web wrote:
Oject name : Windrop.exe
Discovery : Trojan horse Agent MJV
Finder : System
File size : 2.34MB (2453887 bytes)
Healable : No
Source : Moved Object
Status : Infected (Quarantined)

Also, Windrop doesn't call itself windrop, it calls itself eggdrop. The windrop name is only given to the folder eggdrop is installed within on windows. If you want to use batch files I suggest something similar like below.

RunOnce.bat: eggdrop.exe -m eggdrop.conf
RunAfter.bat: eggdrop.exe

Pretty simple eh? There is also an easier way, simply open the run dialog (start>run) and type "DRIVE:\PATH\TO\EGGDROP.EXE" (keep the quotes if you have spaces in your path) then press ENTER (replacing of course 'drive' with your drive letter, and '\path\to\' with the path, this will restart any windrop instantly).

Hi to all those who replied.

Just to inform you all of what happened..I've found the reason for the missing eggdrop exe file..sadly.

Turns out there was a trojan horse back door called Agent.RPX and my virus scanner removed the threat. Thanks again for all replies.
