I installed eggdrop 1.6.19 (from source) on my fresh installed Ubuntu 8.04.
But it wont connect to irc or let me telnet to it when i try to start it normally, it launches in the background but never connects to irc.
If i add the -n (debug) when i start it, it works fine.
Is this a bug or somethind, or did i do something wrong? |

It's a thread problem afaik.
You need to recompile eggdrop with a special switch but I can't remember it.
Hopefully someone else knows it.. |

How many eggdrop processes do you see when you type "ps x" after launching it into the background?
Also, out of curiosity, have you set the my-ip and my-hostname variables correctly? (and not commented out?) |

thanks for answering.
But i found my problem.
the bot is behind a router so i had to set the nat-ip to my local ip.
I cant remember doing that on my previous eggdrop (1.6.1 . |

One workaround is editing your config.h file after running configure, and make sure you define the HAVE_TCL_THREADS macro, as you most likely have a threaded tcl-library that is not properly detected (ugly hack, I know.. but the current test for threaded tcl is just as ugly).
Unfortunately, there is no switch for the configure-script to enforce threaded tcl, only non-threaded tcl (unless changed in 1.6.19) _________________ NML_375, idling at #eggdrop@IrcNET |
