How to install and configure eggdrop

Post by Bettet »

Hello guys, i've been behind eggdrop for about a week still i couldn't make it.

I could install eggdrop but while installing it creates 2 eggdrop folders on the shell. The second case is i dont know what are the main options i have to set it on the config to make the bot connect to my IRC. I was trying this process for along time googling and stuffs like that and now finall i found this forums. I hope this would help me out.

Could you guys please tell me what are the main options on the config that i;ve to set to make the bot connect.?

Thanks in advance

Explore this website more.

It is true that the forum here holds much information. But so does the rest of this website.

http://www.egghelp.org/setup.htm
and read, and follows the links within that page to read even more.

This might be helpful too:
http://eggwiki.org/Eggdrop.conf
as it is color coded.
but no bots connected to the channel yet.
Making the bot join a channel is not your first priority. Don't worry about that right now.
First, you must be able to log into your bot's partyline. From there, is where you control it.

The partyline command : .+chan

You can read about it here on this website, or with : .help +chan

To add a channel to eggdrop, please enter the bot's partyline and type
# .+chan #channel.
It says to enter the bots party, what it would look like i mean the partyline. And where do i use it? inside of config file?

I think you forgot to say what "it" is.
What are you talking about.... ?
.. what it would look like i mean the partyline. And where do i use it? inside of config file?
The partyline?

I already gave you info on that:
http://www.egghelp.org/setup.htm
and read, and follows the links within that page to read even more.
Which part of the info and info in the link(s) found there, was not clear?
Perhaps we can explain, if you are specific.

It says launched onto the background but not yet connected, I've been after this for a week or so still nothing is done about this. Sorry i'm a newbie in this thats why i'm asking stuffs over and over again.

And I said to be specific if you needed help with something you read.
This, " i didn't get what it exactly means. " is not specific.
What i want now is to connect the damn bot to my irc channel.
And I already told you not to worry about that for now. First, you need to be able to log into the bot.
Perhaps I've missed it - but so far you have no indicated that you can do that yet. You've actually indicated that you have not logged into bot's partyline yet.
It says launched onto the background but not yet connected,
It says that it is not yet connected??
Your earlier post didn't show that. It showed :
[16:08:57] === DrFalken: 1 channels, 0 users.
Launched into the background (pid: 9951)
That indicates that it is connected.

You can try running the bot with the -n switch. That will keep it from going into the background, and can be useful sometimes, for seeing what is going on when trying to track down problems.
I've been after this for a week or so still nothing is done about this.
After that much time, I'm sure you are frustrated.
Sorry i'm a newbie in this thats why i'm asking stuffs over and over again.
But why?
You are apt to get the same answer(s), over and over again. Or ignored.
Just like right now... in a previous post, I directed you to things to read, and told you that if you have specific questions about what you read, then ask about them. Just be specific.
Since you are not being specific, it seems that you simply haven't read.

So first things first.
Read.
Be sure that you can get into the partyline. (That's what those links are about)
Once you are logged in there, then you can use lots of commands, to control your bot. They are all listed on this same site, and also in .help within the bot.
And again... if you need specific help on one, just ask.

DCC chat your bot... Type in your password when asked to do so... Poof, you're on the partyline:)
Read that login screen, it is full of good stuff... Type .help and move on from there.
