Hello Sir_FZ,
Been using AP a while now. Nice.
Thanks.
Is it possible that we broke bnicks global protection?
Check here: http://forum.egghelp.org/viewtopic.php?p=87649#87649
for a few posts.
Yesterday, I happened to want to enable bnicks in a channel.
In .chaninfo
looks like this now: ap:bnicks: {+ 1440 w:k:b 2}
Had a quick look at the bnicks global list, and it looked like it would cover what I needed.
Quickly tested, by joining the channel with a nick that IS in the global list.
No reaction by bot.
Waited a while.
Still nothing.
Then, just for the heck of it, put that same term in the #chan bnicks list.
Bot reacted quickly!
What do you make of it?
Thanks |

When a channel has a specific bnicks list, the global list is not used. So if you already had a #chan-sepcific bnicks list that did not contain the nick you've added, the bot will not react because it won't consider the global list.

Enable ap:adv. I will not tell you how though, so don't ask me and instead look it up in the script. _________________ Follow me on GitHub

Aha.
Tried it. Simply deleted the entries in the channel specific bnicks list, and it immediately detected one of the nicks in the global list.
If ever knew that before, I'd forgotten it.
Thanks! |

Hello Sir_Fz:
The IRC server accepts a command:
/msg chanserv access #chan list
and responds with a notice reply to my irc client program, listing the users
on the SOP, AOP, VOP list.
From the partyline, if I send:
.msg chanserv access #chan list
I get a few of the lines of response, appearing in the partyline, then:
<botnick> [16:49] Flood from @theIRCserver.com! Placing on ignore!
<botnick> [16:49] AP: Private botnet flood detected. Temporarly stopped answering recieved data.
And I'm not finding what I need to change to adjust that.
For what it is worth, 15 minutes later, I see it expire.
Also, possibly pertinent:
http://forum.egghelp.org/viewtopic.php?t=9721&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=1005
that I felt I should mention... just in case it is meaningful here.
If you want some info, on any settings in chaninfo, or from the config in the script, let me know and I'll get you whatever info you need.
Thanks |

Add *!*@theIRCserver.com to your eggdrop with +f and it'll be exempted. _________________ Follow me on GitHub

Thank you for the very fast reply.

That does work.
It seems to me to a very broad hostmask though.
Experimented.
Using *!*services@theIRCserver.com seems to work too, and I suppose it narrows it down some.
(By the way, I just made up a user, with a totally dreamed up handle. Then added the host. That is what you meant for me to do, right? )
Is there no other way to accomplish this though? No settings within AP?
and, what was causing it?
Thanks |

Yes that's right, you create a new user with that host and give it the +f user-flag. There is no other way, but why are you worried? the IRC services' hostmask cannot be spoofed or used in abusive actions (otherwise, what kind of network would that be?). Just make sure you set a password to that user. The cause of the ignore was simply because of the settings you have set for private floods.

Add the words using .ap:add adwords <chan/global> <words...> _________________ Follow me on GitHub

What is the significance of setting a pw?

This feature does not currently exist. I suggest you add the anti-spam bot's host to its nickname's access list
Edit: You can also make it identify on connect by adding this line:
| Code: | | putdcc $idx "NickServ :identify $antispam(cnick) <password>" |
This can be modified to whatever identification syntax you use
After these lines in procedure antispambot:
| Code: | "001" {
putlog "\002AP\002: AntiSpamBot: Connected and registered as $antispam(cnick)."
set antispam(pong) 1; set antispam(idx) $idx |
Edit2: "ChanServ" to "NickServ" _________________ Follow me on GitHub

I tried to identify via the method you mentioned but i didnt work for me. Here is what i did in the script tcl file.
"001" {
putlog "\002AP\002: AntiSpamBot: Connected and registered as $antispam(cnick)."
set antispam(pong) 1; set antispam(idx) $idx
putdcc $idx "NickServ :identify $antispam(cnick) <mypassword>" |
